Inderpreet Singh, 27, charged over $3m supermarket thefts

An Indian national has been charged for his alleged involvement in a massive crime syndicate which stole more than $3m from supermarkets.

An Indian national has been charged with more than 80 counts of theft as part of a major police investigation into an alleged crime syndicate targeting supermarkets.

Inderpreet Singh, 27, appeared briefly at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Monday after he was arrested by Viper detectives in NSW on Friday and extradited to Victoria.

It’s alleged he was involved in a 100 person crime syndicate that orchestrated more than $3m worth of retail thefts in the past two years, mainly targeting supermarkets.

Mr Singh has been charged with 87 counts of theft.

He did not apply for bail at his filing hearing on Monday and will be remanded in custody.

Mr Singh will return to court for commital mention in February 2025.
