A firefighter has been injured following a deliberately lit fire at Clunes on Tuesday night.

A Country Fire Brigade spokesperson said the firefighter sustained a burn to their leg and was taken to hospital.

The fire was under control by 8.30pm.

A Clunes man in his 30s was apprehended by police and taken to hospital for assessment.

Early reports indicated a person was on fire but CFA have since confirmed it was an illegal burn-off.

Ballarat is still under a fire danger period making burn-offs illegal.
