Two people have been rushed to hospital after multi-vehicle crash north of Melbourne.

Emergency services were called to the Northern Highway in Wallan on Wednesday morning after reports of three cars and a truck colliding.

The Herald Sun understands one person was trapped inside a vehicle.

A man believed to be in his 30s was treated for lower body injuries and taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a stable condition.

Another man in his 40s was treated for abdominal pain and taken to the Northern Hospital.
