A Yarrawonga man has been charged after allegedly killing a Barooga family’s cat while spotlighting on the NSW-Victoria border earlier this year.
Authorities will allege the 47-year-old entered a private Coldwells Rd property about 11pm on April 1 this year.
It is understood the owners of the property, a 61-year-old man and his wife, saw a vehicle in their driveway on the night of the incident.
It is alleged the man driving the vehicle continued towards the rear sheds of the property where the owner alleges he saw a spotlight being used before seeing two shots fired.
The owner of the property found the cat’s body dead two days later as a result of a gunshot wound.
The Yarrawonga man was arrested and charged with firing a firearm onto enclosed lands, and unlawfully entering enclosed agricultural land – possess/discharge firearm at Mulwala police station on Monday.
He will face Corowa Local Court on November 11.
