Water safety warning issued after record number of drownings last summer

A toddler who was rushed to hospital after reports of a drowning is in a stable condition, as of Monday afternoon.

Emergency services rushed to a small town on the outskirts of Shepparton to reports a toddler had drowned on Monday morning.

Ambulance Victoria was called to a report of a child drowning in the channel on Sidebottoms Rd, Pine Lodge, about 9.30am.

Paramedics worked on the toddler who was in a serious condition at the scene before an air ambulance arrived.

The toddler was then flown to the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne.

Pine Lodge is a small town east of Shepparton and has a population of about 200 people.

The town was rocked by tragedy last month when four people died in a horrific high speed T-bone smash at the intersection of Pine Lodge and Cosgrove-Lemnos roads.
