Four soldiers have been injured, one seriously, in a training exercise at the Puckapunyal Military Area on Thursday.

Paramedics were called to the Puckapunyal training facility about 3pm on Thursday, 10km west of Seymour, following reports of a single vehicle crash involving an Australian Army ASLAV (Australian Light Armoured Vehicle).

Four soldiers sustained injuries.

One soldier was flown to the Royal Melbourne Hospital and is in a serious condition.

Three others have minor injuries and are undergoing precautionary medical assessment.

The soldiers’ families have been notified and welfare support is being provided by the Australian Army.

In respect of the privacy of those involved, the Department of Defence said it would not provide detail.

A spokesman said they were “committed to ensuring the safety of all Australian Defence Force personnel during training activities”.

An investigation will be carried out with the appropriate authorities to investigate the cause.
