A man has been remanded in custody after he allegedly rammed a police car during a high-speed chase through Shepparton streets.
Matthew Sorbello, 32 of Shepparton, is alleged to have been seen driving a blue Ford Falcon with false registration players on Wilmot Road shortly after midday on Monday.
He faced a brief filing hearing on 10 charges including aggravated intentional exposure of a police officer to risk by driving, drive while disqualified, drug driving, and committing an indictable offence while on bail at Shepparton Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday morning.
A female passenger got out of the car and the male driver proceeded to drive into the police vehicle, reverse, then ram the vehicle again.
The offending vehicle took off at speed, travelling on the wrong side of the road on Goulburn Valley Highway, narrowly missing a truck.
The vehicle continued to be driven erratically before the driver lost control on River Road in Kialla.
The driver fled on foot but was arrested a short time later in nearby paddocks.
Mr Sorbello will return to court in October.
