A Shepparton mum and her sister in law “laid into” a woman they believed bashed their daughter and niece, saying “no one touches my f****** kids and get away with it”, a court has heard.

The girl’s aunty Erin Jones, 34, and mother Emma Silvey 36, both pleaded guilty to charges of aggravated burglary and common law assault in the Melbourne County Court on Friday.

Prosecutors told the court the pair attended their victim’s home on January 27 this year after Jones received a text message from her 17-year-old niece saying she had been attacked by her partner’s mother.

They entered the home through an unlocked front door and found the mum in her bedroom with her partner.

The trio “laid into” the woman punching and kicking her multiple times.

The victim’s partner and her son both tried to intervene before the group left the scene with the victim taken to hospital with head injuries.

Jones and Silvey were arrested at their homes the day after the incident and taken to Shepparton police station for interviews.

Analysis of Silvey’s phone revealed a string of text and voicemail messages with her partner.

“No one touches my f****** kids and get away with it,” she said in the voice message.

One of the texts read: “Well the police haven’t shown up here yet LOL, but (name) is in hospital, whoops so I’m expecting a visit from them later on.

“I don’t regret it, I would do it for any of my kids.”

Soon after, Jones and Silvey appeared to gloat about their actions in text messages which were read to the court.

“Will attach a get well soon card from us all soon,” Silvey said.

Jones replied: “Oh my god yes, I so want to see the damage bad”.

In an apology read to the court by her defence lawyer Phillip Skehan, Jones said the incident was “one of the silliest decisions” of her life.

“I just wanted to protect my family. I truly regret the decision I made,” the statement read.

One defence lawyer argued the incident was not revenge but “protection of a 17-year-old”.

Judge Sarah Dawes ordered both women be assessed for community corrections orders.

The matter will return to court at a later day.
