One person is dead and two people are seriously injured after it is believed a truck and a car collided on the Murray Valley Hwy.

The driver of a truck is dead after a truck and a car collided in a horror smash in northern Victoria.

Police are now investigating the collision, which occured in Yalca Tuesday morning.

Emergency services were called to Waaia-Bearii Road and Murray Valley Highway about 7.30am.

It is understood a truck and car collided, before the truck veered off the road and crashed into a tree.

The driver of the truck died at the scene.

The male driver of the car was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The female passenger was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.

Police are continuing to establish the exact circumstances of the collision and investigations are ongoing.
