Raymond and Jeannette Hunt’s legal battle to keep Shepparton home

A Shepparton couple will have the fate of their home decided in the Supreme Court after claims they owe a trustee who looked after a bankrupt estate more than $100,000.

A Shepparton couple are at their “wits end” as they prepare for a fight to keep their home in the Supreme Court over claims they owe a trustee more than $100,000.

Raymond and Jeannette Hunt’s battle to keep their Shepparton home is in the Supreme Court as the private trustee of Ms Hunt’s estate seeks to take their home from them in order to be paid back more than $136,000.

Ms Hunt was accepted for bankruptcy by the Australian Financial Security Authority (AFSA) on January 18, 2021 after the death of her late husband Philip Raymond Flinn.

As a result, Ms Hunt’s late husband’s estate was also placed into bankruptcy.

Initially, Ms Hunt was assigned a public trustee for the estate, but they claim on April 8, 2022 that “without being informed” they were assigned a private trustee.

Raymond Hunt is very worried he and his wife could end up on the streets.

Court documents reveal that the creditors were all paid back on November 9, 2022.

However, the trustee has filed a motion with the Supreme Court over costs she believes she is owed by the Hunt’s.

Court documents reveal that Ms Hunt’s Shepparton property is worth between $295,000 and $325,000, which would more than cover the debt the trustee believes she is owed over outstanding fees.

Ms Hunt was discharged from bankruptcy on January 19 this year, court documents reveal.

The trustee filed her motion with the Supreme Court on February 1.

Mr Hunt is concerned they will end up homeless if they lose their home.

“We are at our wits end … And are about to be forced out on the street.”

Raymond and Jeannette Hunt are at their “wits end” after an ongoing legal battle over Ms Hunt’s late partner’s estate.

Ms Hunt, who suffers from multiple sclerosis and type 2 diabetes, has been unable to travel to Melbourne for court appearances due to her health.

The couple are due back in the Supreme Court in Melbourne for a trial on November 7.

The matter has been adjourned multiple times due to no appearance.

The trustee and her lawyer have been contacted for comment.

There is also a pending investigation by AFSA, court documents reveal.
