A Mooroopna mother has suffered horrific injuries after she was allegedly run over by a stranger in her own car in a Facebook marketplace deal gone wrong.
Rebekah ‘Bek’ Streader was selling her beloved 2001 Holden VX R8 Clubsport to a stranger over Facebook marketplace when things took a nasty turn.
Ms Streader, a single mother of five children, was recently made redundant from her job at Coles and was trying to sell the car to help with her financial situation.
The prospective buyer messaged Ms Streader on Sunday, June 2 at 4pm.
Bek walked out with her 15-year-old son and the proposed purchaser did the routine checks of the engine, the lights and the glove box, “checking to make everything works”, as Ms Streader put it.
The man then asked if he could test drive the car, so she threw him the keys and made her way to the passenger seat.
But as she did that, he instantly locked the car.
“Open up, don’t be silly … Please don’t,” she begged the man as she banged on the passenger side window.
Ms Streader then jumped on the bonnet before the man allegedly ran her over before fleeing with her car.
Ms Streader has undergone surgery at The Alfred has pins and plates put in place in her leg
Ms Streader says that doctors are concerned that one part of the bone went “one way” and another part “went the other”.
A GoFundMe has been organised by Ms Streader’s good friend Elizabeth to help raise money for Bek while she recovers.
