Mooroopna man Christopher Greenwood caught twice with vile child abuse material
A Mooroopna man busted with vile child abuse material was caught sharing the images with another man when police came knocking for a second time.
A Mooroopna man busted with child abuse material and released pending court proceedings was caught sharing the vile images with another man less than two years later.
Christopher Greenwood, 38, pleaded guilty in the County Court on Tuesday to possessing and transmitting child abuse material through Facebook messenger and Kik between December 2022 and May 2024.
Court documents stated police found more than 2100 child abuse images and videos across Greenwood’s mobile phones.
Another Mooroopna man, Jesse Hanley, was in July sentenced to six month’s imprisonment on similar charges and to be of good behaviour for 18 months following his release from jail.
In one of the messages, Greenwood sent a child abuse image to Hanley who replied “hot, yeah boy, hehe”.
Greenwood wrote “I’ve got outher [sic] pics and vids but would have to show u in person to [sic] risky know what I mean”.
Defence lawyer Alex McLennan said that Greenwood’s offending was partly caused by a spiral into methamphetamine use and accessing of child abuse material.
Greenwood also pleaded guilty to charges of possessing meth and cannabis.
Prosecutors argued for a prison term given the seriousness of the offence.
Judge Daniel Holding remanded Greenwood in custody for sentencing on December 16 and indicated that a short prison term, followed by a community corrections order was on the cards.
