Shepparton families will soon be able to “own it all” as an edition of Monopoly based on residents’ favourite landmarks across the Goulburn Valley is launched.

The brand new, Shepparton-themed custom Monopoly board is being launched on Wednesday morning at Victoria Park Lake.

Thousands of Shepparton locals voted for the landmark locations they wanted to see featured on the board and the top spots can now be revealed.

For the property squares brown is canola crops and the Australian Botanical Gardens; light blue is Mooroopna War Memorial, Shepparton and District War Memorial and Goulburn Valley Libraries; and pink is Dookie Rail Trail, The Museum of Vehicle Evolution and Shepparton Art Museum.

Meanwhile, orange is Chocolate Apple Factory, Shepparton Festival and Murchison Heritage Centre; red is Shepparton Markets, Maude Street Mall and Riverside Plaza; and yellow is Shepparton Heritage Centre, Tatura Water Tower and KidsTown Adventure Playground.

For the big spenders green is Giant Murray Cod, Moooving Art Cows and Notre Dame College and dark blue is Goulburn River, Victoria Park Lake.

Greater Shepparton mayor Shane Sali said with the town’s very own Monopoly board the world would get to see how special the region was.

“Rolling the dice on Greater Shepparton has always been a winning move,” he said.

“Whether it’s walking along the Goulburn River, exploring the Shepparton Art Museum or Museum of Vehicle Evolution, or taking in the scenery at the Australian Botanic Gardens Shepparton, there is something here for everyone.

“Greater Shepparton has always been a place where innovation and community go hand-in-hand, and now we have got the ultimate game to prove it.”

Winning Moves spokeswoman Jaime-Lee deNiet said after spending the past year diving into the rich and emerging life Shepparton had to offer, the company was excited to reveal a game they hoped the community would feel represented everything special about their home.

“Shepparton is an integral part of Victoria, from its abundant farmlands to quaint wineries. This town is a true Australian country haven,” she said.

The Shepparton edition is now one of more than 300 editions that have been created in Monopoly’s 90 years.

It will be available at Big W and JB Hi-Fi.
