A man took a trip to the state’s north with a bunch of mates where they allegedly assaulted a couple all while his pregnant partner was at home in Melbourne with her in-laws.

Maluk Thou, 23, of Collingwood, faced Shepparton Magistrates’ Court on Friday after the alleged assault and home invasion was caught on the doorbell CCTV.

Mr Thou has pleaded not guilty to a string of assault, aggravated burglary and property damage charges after alleged beating a man in a driveway with five other co-accused and punching a female in the right eye socket to which a co-accused allegedly said “what the f*ck c*nt? We don’t do that sh*t”.

Mr Thou lives over a two-hour drive from Shepparton, which Magistrate Peter Dunn considered “enough time to understand what you were doing and turn around”.

Mr Thou’s partner, Abola Yak, was pregnant and at home with the accused’s parents at the time of the alleged attack over his friend’s motor vehicle dispute.

Prosecutor Daniel White said the circumstances were “an extraordinary example of a home invasion” and the consequence of releasing Mr Thou from custody might be a “serious offence against another innocent victim”.

Magistrate Dunn said the accused “clearly has no hesitation in inflicting physical will against a female” and is “actually being restrained by his co-accused due to his explosiveness”.

“There’s something in Mr Thou’s life driving him to violence, and it needs to be uncovered and addressed,” Magistrate Dunn said.

Magistrate Dunn refused Mr Thou’s bail application with a hearing set for August.
