The Hockey Victoria Premier League ladder is taking shape, as the competition’s top tier teams begin to show what they are going to be capable of.
As part of heraldsun.com.au’s partnership to stream two games a week this season with Hockey Victoria, this Sunday’s clash feature the men’s and women’s matches between MCC and Yarra Valley.
The clubs women’s teams are both desperate to end their winless starts to the season after improved performances.

MCC was narrowly beaten by Greensborough, as Yarra Valley failed to come from behind against Toorak East Malvern (TEM).

Yarra Valley and MCC have picked up their first points of the season after playing out a thrilling draw on Sunday afternoon.
Chloe Scott gave Yarra Valley the lead at home after nine minutes before Melinda Casey and Georgie van der Vliet pulled MCC ahead in the second quarter.
The home side were able to take back the lead in the final quarter as Taysen and Rylie Wilcox both found the back of the net.
But Yarra Valley’s lead was short-lived as MCC captain Casey ensured her side ended the day with a share of the spoils.

MCC have recorded their third straight win with a 7-0 thumping of Yarra Valley away from home.
Joshua Bretherton and Simon McKeever were heavily influential in the result, both scoring doubles.
Oliver Crane, Will Jackson and Tony Wilson also found their way onto the scoresheet.
MCC coach Neil Hodgson said he was incredibly pleased with his side’s performance.
“I thought we did the basics really well today,” he said.
“We’re really pleased to come away with the points. Yarra played a good game, especially in the third term when we didn’t score a goal.
“Our response in the last quarter was fantastic as well.”
Hodgson also congratulated Yarra Valley goalkeeper Thomas Dyall on a fantastic display.
“Without him it could have easily been double figures. He is definitely a player to watch for the rest of the season,” he said.
