Large truck fire closes northbound lanes on Hume Freeway
Drivers are being asked to consider alternate routes after the Hume Freeway was closed early on Tuesday morning.

Northbound lanes of the Hume Freeway are closed just after Avenel due to a large truck fire at Locksley.
It is understood a b double truck caught fire while travelling along the Hume Highway around 4.00am.
The Hume Highway is currently closed Northbound at Alexandersons Road.
A CFA spokewsoman said ten units rushed to the scene to find the fire had set both trailers alight and had also spread to a nearby paddock.
It was quickly brought under control within a few minutes, and the driver was rescued safely from the truck and escaped uninjured.
The incident was deemed under control at 4:46am and deemed safe at 5:51am.
Emergency Victoria issued a warning just before 5am Tuesday morning to say firefighters were on scene and there was no immediate threat to the community.
They said “smoke may be visible from nearby roads and communities.”
Travellers are being urged to use alternate routes including the Goulburn Valley Freeway and Midland Highway and to leave plenty of time.
It is unclear how long the closure will remain in place.
Police said the cause of the fire is not suspicious.
