Police are investigating another assault at the troubled Greater Shepparton Secondary College.
Emergency services were called to the super school’s Mooroopna campus on Monday afternoon after reports of a fight between two Year 9 students.
An Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said paramedics were called to the scene at 1.37pm with a teenage male assessed for an upper body injury and taken to Goulburn Valley Health in a stable condition.
A Victoria police spokesperson said inquiries regarding the incident were still continuing.
“Police were called to an educational facility on Echuca Rd, Mooroopna to reports of an assault on Monday (17 May),” they said.
“Police have been told a teenage boy was assaulted just before 1.40pm.
“Mooroopna police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and it remains ongoing.”
The incident follows a report from the Herald Sun last month which revealed teachers at the school feel “unsafe” and are “working in fear”.
“We are working in fear,” one teacher said. “There is no doubt about this. Teachers are being abused and threatened daily. My colleagues and I are taking sick leave because there is so much stress.”
The school was forced into lockdown earlier this year after a student was seen waving an imitation firearm, prompting a terrified student to send a message to their parents saying “goodbye, I love you”.
Staff and security at the school are also understood to keep a ‘watchlist’ of 18 students – including their names and photos – to be aware of.
The college has 2400 students and was created last year when the education department combined four schools in Shepparton and Mooroopna in an attempt to lift lagging results.
