A former church in the heart of Shepparton could get a new lease of life as a steak house, complete with a whiskey and gin bar.
The property at 152-160 Maude St, built in 1908, consists of two titles and a total landholding of 1827sq m, offering a unique opportunity for repurposing within Shepparton’s bustling CBD.
The former Uniting Church has two historically significant buildings — the main church building with a floor area of 381sq m and a church hall, covering 187sq m.
The property could be turned into a wide range of potential uses which include retail, hospitality, office space, childcare, mixed-use developments, community centres, and places of worship.
Gagliardi Scott’s Rocky Gagliardi said the historical significance, combined with modern upgrades and zoning that allowed for a wide range of uses, making it an exceptional investment with immense potential for repurposing.
Mr Gagliardi, alongside Burgess Rawson’s David Napoleone, said a permit had been approved for building extensions and the use of the site as a “Function Centre 9b,” which would include a steakhouse plus a whiskey and gin bar by 2024.
The former church is 750m from the Shepparton railway station, and is also near two main roads, the Midland Hwy and Wyndham St, which connect Shepparton to the rest of the region.
Expressions of interest close on Wednesday, September 25, at 3pm, unless it is sold earlier.
