Court: Kyle Egan bailed following alleged Weddell St siege in Shepparton
A man who hid in his ceiling as police looked to apprehend him has been granted bail following an alleged lengthy three hour siege on a quiet Shepparton street.

A Shepparton man with a stack of warrants out for him hid in his ceiling when police came looking for him which resulted in an alleged siege on a quiet residential street.
Kyle Egan, 31, fronted Shepparton Magistrates’ Court on October 4 after being arrested and charged by police following an alleged siege that lasted more than three hours.
At 1pm on October 3, police arrived at an address on Weddell St, Shepparton seeking to apprehend Mr Egan.
Mr Egan, who had six warrants out for his arrest, climbed into the ceiling of the home when police went looking for him, before he was arrested at 4.30pm on October 3.
He was later charged over the outstanding warrants and the siege.
Weddell St was blocked off between Swallow and Sobraon streets during the siege.
Mr Egan was wanted by police for several alleged offences, including dangerous driving, reckless conduct, threats to kill and criminal damage.
A number of people were in court to support Mr Egan, including his sister, mother and partner.
The court heard that Mr Egan’s father died on March 9 which resulted in him missing his scheduled court appointments and he failed to attend court at a later date.
The court heard Mr Egan had a criminal history but that it was “fairly limited”.
Police argued he was an unacceptable risk and that he had form for not answering bail.
Magistrate Megan Casey told the court Mr Egan had suffered from trauma in the past.
Ms Casey said it was not a foregone conclusion that the charges Mr Egan was facing would result in a prison term.
Mr Egan was granted bail and he will have to report to Shepparton police station every Monday.
Mr Egan will front court at a later date.
