A Cobram grub has been remanded into custody for the first time after he raped a young girl in Cobram last year.

A Cobram man has been taken into custody for the first time after he raped a young girl in Cobram last year.

Adrian Anthony Thompson, 29, pleaded guilty in the Shepparton County Court on September 12 to sexually penetrating a child under the age of 16.

Thompson sexually penetrated the young girl on January 27, 2023.

Thompson’s lawyer Ian J Polak told the court Thompson was “positive about going into custody”, and requested an adjournment so his client could undergo psychiatric evaluation.

Thompson, who the court heard was unemployed, was taken into custody ahead of his next court appearance.

The court heard it would be Thompson’s first time in custody.

Judge Robyn Harper adjourned the plea until November 25 at 10am in the Melbourne County Court.
