Tongala is continuing to build arguably the most formidable playing group ahead of the 2022 Murray league season.
The Blues have further strengthened their already quality list with the signing of former Melbourne and Carlton midfielder Brock McLean.
McLean, who will turn 36 in March, arrives in the small country town, about 20 minutes from Echuca, after spending the 2021 season with Shepparton United in the Goulburn Valley league.
He played for the Demons eight times and impressed with his experience and skill.
“The TFNC (Tongala Football Netball Club) family is excited to announce the signing of ex-AFL player Brock McLean,” a post on the club’s social media page said.
“In addition to Brock’s vast experience and football knowledge his leadership qualities both on and off the field will be a huge asset to our club.
“Brock’s decorated AFL career includes 94 games with Melbourne and 63 with Carlton and since finishing AFL he has had continued success.
“We welcome Brock, fiance Stephanie and family to our club and look forward to catching up in the pre-season.”
McLean joins the Blues who have already had former Footscray VFL best and fairest Nick Jamieson re-sign for 2022 alongside a host of other local talents.
Northern Territory stars Cam Illet and Darren Ewing will also return to country Victoria after being limited by travel restrictions this year.
Before the Murray league season was called off, Tongala sat undefeated at the top of the ladder undefeated after 13 games.
