Ben Ladson elected as the new councillor for the Greater Shepparton

Shepparton has a new councillor after Kim O’Keeffe resigned late last year. Find out who it is.

Ben Ladson will be the next elected council member for the Greater Shepparton after Kim O’Keeffe resigned last year.

After a countback by the Victorian Electoral Commission — which looks back at who was the runner up in the most recent election — Mr Ladson was announced on Monday morning.

Mr Ladson will to fill the vacant councillor role left from the resignation of Kim O‘Keeffe in November.

Mayor Shane Sali congratulated Ben Ladson on his win through a Facebook post.

“We have a new Councillor! Congratulations Ben Ladson,” he said.

Many locals also turned to Facebook to show their excitement for the election of Mr Ladson.

“Congratulations Ben Ladson! That is wonderful news and I know you will serve this community well,” said Michelle Black.

“New era of whole community focus and youth entering council. Great to see,” said Shane Martin.

All the votes counted in the recounts were from the general election held in October 2022 and included the remaining eligible candidates who were not elected.
