A Cobram man with alleged connections to the Mongols Outlaw Motorcycle Gang will spend Christmas behind bars after he was arrested during a dramatic police raid on Friday.

Braden Clifton, 28, briefly faced Shepparton Magistrates’ Court on charges including trafficking a drug of dependence, possessing a drug of dependence, possessing the proceeds of crime and bail offences on Monday afternoon.

Authorities will allege Clifton was arrested on Friday morning when members of Victoria Police and the Australian Federal Police executed search warrants at a Waratah St, Cobram unit complex.

It is alleged cocaine, cash, jewellery and mobile phones were seized from one of two units raided.

Police say Clifton is a patched member of the Mongols OMCG.

His lawyer David Tamanika originally appeared on Clifton’s behalf as the court was told there was no need for him to be brought up from the holding cells.

But he was eventually walked into the courtroom by two custody officers with prosecutors and magistrate Peter Dunn explaining to Clifton what had happened in his hearing.

Mr Tamanika made no application for bail on behalf of his client who will return to court on January 21 for a mention hearing.

Two other men were arrested during the raids on Friday with a 20-year-old Cobram man charged with possessing a drug of dependence.

He was bailed to appear at Cobram Magistrates’ Court next year.

Police also arrested a 27-year-old Cobram man and allegedly seized weapons including a baton, knuckle dusters and sword along with cannabis.

He was charged with possessing cannabis, possessing proceeds of crimes and weapon offences and will face court in May.
