In the small town of Buninyong, 11kn south of Ballarat, a family has felt the support of their community in the wake of the tragic loss of fiance and father, Adam Bridges.
A GoFundMe campaign to help support the grieving family financially as they deal with their loss, as well as to help pay for funeral expenses, has currently surpassed $25k.
Mr Bridges, 36, sadly passed away from stage four bowel cancer, on January 2, leaving his fiance, Belinda and their family devastated.
Adam was a prison guard at Barwon Prison and an avid boxer. He also played for Buninyong Football Club in his younger years.
The family was unaware of how the fund raising campaign had taken off, as they concentrated on being close with one another during the tough time.
Close family friend Lucy Gilbert told us, Belinda and her children were being, “incredibly brave and resilient,” as they deal with their grief.
She was not surprised at the generosity of the community when she saw the GoFundMe tick over the $25,000 mark,
“Buninyong is a very close knit community, and Adam was very well loved. I absolutely knew the people would rally behind them.”
