Whitehorse coronavirus: Box Hill graduation partygoers fined for lockdown breach
Despite a huge jump in cases across Melbourne, there are some promising signs for Whitehorse in the latest coronavirus figures.

The number of coronavirus cases in Whitehorse grew by three today, with 35 active cases in the community.
According to Thursday’s figures from the Department of Health and Human Services there are 66 cases of coronavirus (ever) in Whitehorse, up from 63 yesterday.
The number of active cases is 35 – an increase of one from yesterday’s figure of 34.
It comes after several staff at Box Hill Hospital were diagnosed with coronavirus.
Monash has 84 coronavirus cases, with 26 active, compared to 79 cases with 23 active on Wednesday.
According to Thursday’s figures Maroondah has 26 cases, with nine active, compared to 25 cases with eight active Wednesday.

It comes after five people celebrating their friend’s graduation at a Box Hill house were among 63 people fined by police over a 24 hour period for breaking lockdown restrictions.
Police went to the Thames St house on Tuesday evening, finding five people inside.
When asked by police for their reason for being there they said they were celebrating their friend’s graduation.
All five will receive $1652 fines for breaching the Chief Health Officer Brett Sutton’s directions.
Eastern Health has introduced new visitor restrictions to protect patients and staff from the spread of COVID-19.
From Friday morning, visitors are not permitted at any Eastern Health facility except if required as an essential caregiver, with limited exemptions in place.
Others to cop fines include 10 people who gathered in the driveway and on the footpath of a Bentleigh home with stools set up around a gas heater drinking alcohol.
They told police they thought that if they maintained 1.5m distance, they were able to gather in the street.
Police and Emergency Services Minister Lisa Neville said there were examples of people deliberately flouting the lockdown rules which was “incredibly disappointing”.
“We all need to work together to slow the spread of coronavirus and if you refuse to do that, you will face the consequences,” she said.
