Lingerie megastore Victoria’s Secret PINK has shut its doors permanently at Chadstone shopping centre.

The store, which sells signature lingerie, activewear and casual apparel, has been operating at the centre for almost two years.

PINK, which is next door to the main Victoria’s Secret store, had closed during the first stage of coronavirus restrictions, but did not reopen.

The store has now been boarded up, with work taking place to install a new retailer.

Victoria’s Secret opened at Chadstone in November 2018, with more than 1000 eager shoppers queuing to be among the first inside the lingerie retailer’s first Australian flagship location.

The brand is iconic not only for its lacy intimates and fragrances, but also for its annual runway shows and roll call of Victoria’s Secrets “angels”, which over the years has included models Miranda Kerr, Jessica Hart, Kendall Jenner, Shanina Shaik and Gigi Hadid.

The Leader visited Chadstone shopping centre on Saturday and saw large crowds of shoppers.

About 75 per cent of Chadstone’s 550 retailer have now reopened including Uniqlo, Zara and H&M.

Myer is still shut, but expected to reopen by May 30.

At Uniqlo, crowds were so large that shoppers were asked to form an additional line near the escalators.

A retail worker was also conducting temperature checks at the entrance of the store, before allowing customers to enter.

Nearby makeup superstore Sephora was also conducting temperature checks and attracting large queues of people.

Inside Sephora and Mecca, shelves had been stripped bare with no testers available due to strict coronavirus measures.

There was also a strong police presence at the centre, with police approaching shoppers who were not complying with social distancing measures or sitting at central seating areas to eat.

Chadstone centre manager Michael Whitehead said Victoria’s Secret had integrated their PINK range into its existing Victoria’s Secret store.

“This is considered prime retail space at Chadstone and we are currently working with another retailer to move into the vacant store,” Mr Whitehead said.

“We can provide more details on that announcement when we have more to share.”

Victoria’s Secret parent company Valiram Group has been contacted for comment.
