Balcombe Grammar

Jamie Wells is the Dux for Balcombe’s class of 2022.

She attained an ATAR of 99.2 and was praised by the school for her “outstanding work ethic and drive”.

Jamie began her VCE journey in Year 11 attaining a perfect score of 50 in Further mathematics.

Her love of learning took her to Melbounre University in 2022 where she completed enhancement studies in Psychology as well as her regular classes at Balcombe.

Harry Wang was Balcombe’s Dux Proximus with an ATAR of 97.55.

The cohort excelled, achieving four perfect study scores and 17 per cent of students achieving ATARs above 95.

Bayside Christian College

Bayside Christian College has announced and congratulated Mary Hammond, its 2022 DUX.

“A huge congratulations to our College DUX Mary Hammond on achieving an ATAR of 93.55,” the College said.

“We are incredibly proud of every single one of our graduating Year 12 students and the effort they applied to their studies throughout their senior years.”

“I selected VCE subjects that I already had an interest in, knowing I’d be more motivated to work on the subjects I enjoy,” she said.

“My advice to future students is to keep asking questions, surround yourself with positive influences, maintain a balance between school and other interests, and enjoy your final year as much as you can.”

Ballarat Christian College

Ballarat Christian College’s highest ATAR scorer is Harry McGilligan.

Ballarat High School

Ballarat High School’s dux is Todd McGinley, who achieved an ATAR score of 98.8.

Todd will continues his studies with a Bachelor of science at Melbourne University, specialising in mathematics.

In the meantime, he intends to relax – and perhaps study a little in advance of his tertiary education.

Bass Coast College

Bass Coast College’s top student is Inverloch’s Connor Sim, with an ATAR of 98.7.

Multiple academic achievements and awards attained throughout his six years schooling at BCC. This has illustrated his consistent high level of achievement.

He has a particular interest and strengths in mathematics subjects, embarking on a science degree at Melbourne University.

Bayview College Portland

Her subject results are a testament to her strong work ethic and her passion for learning.

Beaconhills College

Beaconhills College is today celebrating the benefits of holistic education with the Duces of its Pakenham and Berwick campuses.

Jasper McDowell from the Pakenham campus, achieved an ATAR of 99.85, while Berwick Campus DUX, Ruby Thornton-Mackay, achieved an impressive 97.45.

Of the 2022 cohort of Beaconhills students, 27 ranked in above 90, 64 students above 80 and 104 above 70.

Across a range of subjects, 52 study scores of 40 were achieved, by students who were “actively involved in College life”

Jasper’s study scores reflect his diverse interests, including a 49 in English, 48 in French, a 44 in literature, a 43 in maths methods and a 48 in history.

Jasper completed extension studies at Melbourne Uni in history and the philosophy of science.

Jasper was very proud of his ATAR, and said he particularly enjoyed studying French.

“It was a different learning experience to my other subjects,” he said.

“It’s a different perspective on the world. Last year I did History and we studied the French Revolution, so it really tied in,” he said, adding that studying French also gave him a better understanding of his first language. Next year he plans to do an Arts degree at the University of Melbourne.

Berwick DUX, Ruby Thornton-Mackay, had already been accepted into the Australian performing arts institution WAAPA, before receiving her results today.

“I definitely aimed high from the start of the year, but it was a pleasant surprise to be Campus Dux,” she said.

While her passion lies in Dance, Ruby chose a diverse mix of other VCE subjects; Chemistry, Geography, French, Mathematical Methods and English.

“I have so many interests, so I wanted to choose something from every realm of learning,” she said.

Executive Principal Stephen McGinley said it was gratifying to see so many Year 12 students excelling in their final year while fully participating in the life of the College.

“Students are finding their passions and interests and this has played out in the strong performance across so many subject areas,” Mr McGinley said

“This is the absolute strength of Beaconhills College.”

Belmont High School

Arty Foulkes has been named the school’s dux with an ATAR of 97.5.

Bendigo Senior Secondary College

Dux of the Bendigo Senior Secondary College Jeremy Krietemeyer has received an ATAR of 97.65. He intends to study Engineering at the University of Melbourne.

He narrowly eclipsed fellow students Austin Robbins who received an ATAR of 97.6 and Matthew Sexton with 97.35.

Another VCE high achiever from Bendigo Senior Secondary College was Gabriel McCoy who received a perfect study score of 50 in Further maths.

Brauer College Warrnambool

The dux of Brauer College was Yann Fiedler who achieved an ATAR of 96.85.

Brentwood Secondary College

The Dux of Brentwood Secondary College received an ATAR score of 99.45.

Principal John Ballagh congratulated the graduating class of year 12 students as 57 per cent achieved above 70 in their ATAR results.

“We are very proud of all the students’ results this year,” he said.

“They’ve all done so well considering the interruptions they have experienced.”

Brighton Grammar

Brighton Grammar’s dux for 2022 is Qiyan Chen, known as Jerry, who received the highest possible ATAR of 99.95.

He also achieved a perfect study score of 50 (EAL), to match the top study score of 50 he achieved last year.

Two other students achieved perfect study scores of 50.

Brighton Grammar headmaster Ross Featherston said he was extremely proud that almost half of the VCE cohort achieved an ATAR of 90 or above.

‘These results are the product of our students’ hard work and commitment to high achievement, in collaboration with their teachers and support from their families’, he said.

Jerry received a Premier’s VCE award.

Camperdown College

Camperdown College Acting Principal Ms Vicki Angus was very proud of results obtained by the Year 12 cohort and particularly excited to announce College Dux on Monday morning.

“I am thrilled for Phoebe Irish as she achieves the College Dux in 2022 and I congratulate her on her tireless hard work and dedication throughout the past few years leading to this moment,” Ms Angus said.

“Phoebe studied History, Studio Art, English, Philosophy and Psychology and her results will enable her to pursue study in Arts (Philosophy) at Melbourne University. We wish her all the best as she continues her education.”

Eagerly awaiting the results Monday morning, Phoebe continually refreshed the results page until the long-awaited number appeared.

“The first thing I did when I saw the results was message my Mum to tell her and she came straight in to congratulate me,” Phoebe said.

She plans to work over summer and travel until commencing her university studies in 2024.

“It’s strange that it’s all over now after spending the whole year studying and waiting for results. Now they’re here and it’s a bit surreal. I’m glad to have achieved a score which allows me direct entry into Arts at Melbourne Uni,” Phoebe said.

Carrum Downs Secondary College

Ryan Howell is the 2022 Carrum Downs Secondary College dux, after achieving an ATAR of 93.45. Ryan is looking forward to studying Engineering at Monash University next year.

Catholic College Sale

Catholic College Sale has announced 12 students have joined the 90+ ATAR score club, and 33 students have entered the local workforce with Apprenticeships in 2022.

The dux for 2022 is Sebastian Moore, with an ATAR of 99.2 and a perfect score of 50 in Extended Investigation.

The school congratulated the Class of 2022 on achieving outstanding VCE results.

“Their resilience and dedication to their studies has been truly admirable, and we are extremely proud of each student,” the school said.

Catherine McAuley College

The top performers in the VEC for 2022 were school Dux Lochlan Tresize with an ATAR of 99.35, with Dux Proximus Lily Jones and Tahlia Isaac who received an ATAR of 98.05.

School Principal Brian Turner said the school was also very proud of

year 11 student Noah Layton, who received a perfect study score of 50 in Further Mathematics.

“Congratulations to Lochlan, Lily and Tahlia. They have shown great dedication with their strong work ethic and thoroughness in their approach to all subjects,” he said.

Catholic College Wodonga

Eight per cent of the Catholic College Wodonga student attained an ATAR of 90 or above, 43 per cent attained an ATAR of 70 or above, and 99 per cent have a secured pathway for 2023.

The school said: “The College and Catholic Education Wodonga would like to congratulate all students on their efforts, especially this year, settling into a normal school setting again.”

“Our students achieved 26 individual study scores above 40 across 12 separate subjects, placing them in the top 8 per cent of the state in these subjects.”

Casey Grammar

Casey Grammar has congratulated two exceptional students, the DUX Juna Gemmell, and the Proximae Accessit, Olivia Berry.

Juna and Olivia were among the 42 per cent of Casey Grammar students who placed in the top 30 per cent of Australia in this year’s results.

The Dux of 2022 Juna, achieved an outstanding ATAR of 97.75. She is looking forward to embarking on a career in healthcare, in either nursing and midwifery or physiotherapy at Deakin.

Proximate Accessit Olivia, achieved an ATAR score of 96.25, and also plans to study nursing and midwifery.

Principal Fiona Williams said “the encouraging results acknowledge the determination of the hardworking students in the cohort, and the commitment of their teachers”.

“As these students embarked on the most challenging part of their academic journey at school – their VCE years – they faced a series of unprecedented challenges,” she said.

“They rose to those challenges with a firm focus on their future.”

“We are so proud of the achievements they are celebrating today. I know they will take everything they have learned at Casey Grammar School and use it as a foundation to build a bright future.”

Caulfield Grammar School

The school’s dux is Austen Humphreys who achieved the highest possible ATAR of 99.95 – one of only 39 students across Victoria.

Christian College Geelong

James Bushell received a score of 99.10.

Cobden Technical School

Cobden Technical School’s highest scoring student and Dux of the 2022 VCE cohort was Brodie Eddy. In a statement, the school said Brodie was also the top student in English, Further maths and Business Management. He also completed VET Engineering and took on the challenge of completing Physics by distance with Virtual Schools Victoria.

Brodie is already an accomplished pilot, having undertaken flight training locally, and he plans to pursue further study by completing a Bachelor of Aviation at RMIT.

At Cobden Technical School we place equal emphasis on the three parallel senior school pathways of VCE, VET and VCAL. Our top performing Senior VCAL student was Lachlan Herschell. Lachlan has already secured a building apprenticeship with Roberts Builders, Cobden. Our VCE students have successfully completed study that will allow them to access further education and training in such broad-ranging fields as nursing, agriculture, business, childcare and engineering. They are now awaiting confirmation of offers, which will occur anytime from now up until mid-January. It has been wonderful to work and celebrate with

these students in our first full year of face-to-face to learning post pandemic.

We are very proud of our graduating students and wish them every success as they move into the next stage of their lives.

Colac Secondary College

The Colac Secondary College dux for 2022 is Thomas Hus.

Tom recorded an ATAR of 78.9. His highest study score was English, recording a 39. Tom has overcome significant challenges and shown wonderful resilience and persistence. The school community are very proud of his efforts. It looks forward to welcoming Tom as a member of College Staff as he commences an Education Support traineeship in 2023.

Covenant College

Hannah Williams scored 98.8.

Clarendon College Ballarat

Clarendon College Ballarat’s dux is Zachary Hengel, whose ATAR was 99.9.

Cranbourne East Secondary College

Cranbourne East Secondary College was “delighted” to see a level up of the median study score across its VCE cohort, improving from 32 in 2021 to 33 this year.

The 2022 College Dux title went to Jasleen Kaur, who achieved an ATAR of 99.15.

Ms Kaur is among the more than 11 per cent of students from Cranbourne East who achieved an ATAR more than 90.

Of the 2022 cohort, 47.6 per cent scored ATARs of 80 or higher, increasing from 39.2 per cent last year; with one perfect study score at 50, and 35 study scores of 40+ in individual subjects.

The school’s median score for English came in at 35, alongside further maths. Up from 9.37 per cent last year, 10.63 per cent of the cohort’s study scores were above 40.

Cranbourne Secondary College

Cranbourne Secondary College has announced the student who has claimed the title of Dux in 2022.

Nargis Shaffi achieved an outstanding ATAR of 94.1.

Senior School Leader Rick Taig, said Nargis showed strong commitment to more than just her studies.

“Not only has she demonstrated a strong commitment to her studies and outstanding academic success, but she has also been an amazing representative of the College in her role as a leader of MultiPride.”

Craigieburn Secondary College

The school is celebrating a strong year of results with their top ATAR being revealed as 82.15 with five of their year 12 students placing in the top 30 per cent.

Damascus College in Mount Clear’s duxes are Fraser Crumpler for VCE and Joshua Matheson for VCE/VM. Fraser got a score of 99.3.

Dromana Secondary College

Five perfect scores and a median study score of 31 has confirmed Dromana Secondary as the Mornington Peninsula’s premier government school.

The class of 22 achieved a median ATAR of 75, 15 per cent scored over 90 and 40 per cent of the 140 VCE students received an ATAR above 80 per cent.

Dux Francesca Montgomery received an ATAR of 99.8, closely followed by Dux Proximus Maya Carlyon on 99.5.

Francesca is hoping to study law at Melbourne University.

Other high achievers included Vivienne Floyd and Rani Thuan who both achieved ATARs of 98.75.

Assistant principal Simon Jones said the result put the school on par with the select entry Frankston High School and topped other independent schools in the region.

Meanwhile the school has selected its captains for 2023.

Oliver Delany, Robby Wood Ingram, Mackenzie Duncan and Esther Leishman were selected after a rigorous process including speeches and interviews.

De La Salle College

Malvern’s De La Salle College has crowned Jack Meehan as its 2022 dux, after he obtained an “amazing” ATAR score of 99.45.

Echuca College

Congratulations to Aaron Fleischer who is the dux of Echuca College for 2022 with an impressive score of 98.65. The school said due to floods Aaron had to be bussed to Bendigo for some of his exams – a big effort.

“Good to note that throughout his time at Echuca College he had a total of 5.5 days of absence since year 7. Attendance matters,” the school said.

2022 Dux of East Loddon P-12 College Ciaran Gale, achieved an ATAR of 91.75

East Loddon P-12 College

Ciaran Gale, Dux of the East Loddon P-12 College overcame the hardships of flooding, which forced his school to close for the final week of classes. He received an ATAR of 91.75

Emmanuel College Warrnambool

Emmanuel College is proud to share its 2022 VCE DUX is Year 12 Student Jace Nepean with a score of 99.95. Runner-up dux is Zack Houlihan, who scored an ATAR of 98.4 followed by William Pennington, who attained an ATAR of 98.35.

The school’s VCAL dux is Year 12 Student Joshua Thom.

Fourteen of the college’s students received an ATAR of 90 and above.

Three students attained a perfect score of 50 in individual subjects, including English, French, literature and German.

There were 41 individual study scores above 40 (top 10 per cent in the state) across 18 different subjects. Eight subject duxes were from year 11 students accelerating in their subject.

About our VCE DUX

18-year-old Jace Napean studied maths methods, physics, chemistry, specialist maths, French and English in VCE, with the highest possible ATAR of 99.95. Taking part in an accelerated program at our College, studying two Year 12 subjects in Year 11, Jace received a 2021 Premier’s VCE Award for physics after attaining a perfect score of 50. Jace also studied math methods in Year 11, receiving a score of 49.

Outside of school, Jace has been a member of the Warrnambool Surf Life Saving Club since he was 7. He also competes in kayaking and plays soccer for the Warrnambool Wolves in the Senior Team.

The College’s Top 5 ATAR score students came together at a student’s house this morning to find out their ATAR results. Incredibly all five students received our College’s top ATAR results of 96 and above, sharing a special moment as friends and classmates.

Principal Peter Morgan said: “After two Covid interrupted years with a great deal of remote learning plus a challenging year in 2022 with student and staff absence, these results are sensational. The way the Year 12 cohort embraced relocating to McAuley campus, the new senior school model and the use of the library for study is a credit to them all. What a great way to finish the year.”

Elisabeth Murdoch College

Elisabeth Murdoch College announced Lana Vellamaruthinkal as its 2022 DUX.

Lana achieved an ATAR of 93.7.

“We’d like to congratulate the whole group on their resilience and adaptability over the past three years to get to this point,” the College said.

“In particular we wish to congratulate our 2022 VCE DUX Lana Vellamaruthinkal.”

Elisabeth Murdoch saw 68 per cent of VCE students achieve ATARs above 60, and the median study score was 29.3.

“The whole cohort will be very proud of their efforts and have exciting pathways ahead of them,” the college said.

Fintona Girls’ School

Students at Fintona Girls’ School in Balwyn are celebrating after 19 per cent of the school’s Class of 2022 achieved an ATAR of 99 or above; 35 per cent achieved an ATAR of 96 or above; and 62 per cent of students achieved an ATAR in the top 10 per cent of the state (90 or above).

The median ATAR for Fintona’s Class of 2022 was 92.05.

Perfect study scores (50) were achieved in art, chemistry, economics, English and visual communication Design. The median study score was 36.

Fintona’s DUX achieved an ATAR of 99.8.

Principal Rachael Falloon said: “I am so delighted for the Class of 2022. As a cohort they celebrated others, embraced countless opportunities and challenges, and led with distinction.”

Flinders Christian College

Mia Foster from the Carrum Downs campus of Flinders Christian College has topped her class in 2022, achieving an ATAR of 98.1.

Mia was among five students at the school who achieved ATARS of 90 and above, while the cohort’s median score sat at 73.

Fountain Gate Secondary College

Fountain Gate Secondary College is celebrating its 2022 DUX student Alwin Benny.

“Congratulations Alwin for showing respect, responsibility, honesty, and endeavour to achieve your result,” the College said.

The school also congratulated the entire cohort, for their work over the past two years in VCE.

Gippsland Grammar

The school’s median ATAR for 2022 is 76.55, which is significantly higher than Victoria’s median ATAR of 70.33. A total of 65 per cent of Gippsland Grammar’s 89 Year 12 students achieved an ATAR above 70, placing them above the state’s average.

Gippsland Grammar’s DUX was Sarah Husodo with an ATAR of 98.55. Sarah is from Sale and hopes to study Medicine at Monash University in 2023.

Girton Grammar School, Bendigo

Girton Grammar School, Bendigo dux is Dhruv Gupta, who achieved an ATAR of 99.8.

Principal of Girton Grammar School, Dr Emma O’Rielly, said staff and students were very proud of the school’s results. Thirty per cent of its Year 12 VCE students ranked in the top 10 per cent of the state.

“I am incredibly inspired by the resilience of our Year 12 students today,” she said.

“This year’s full-time return to the classroom after disrupted years of learning due to the Covid-19 pandemic has been challenging for some students, compounded by flooding events leading up to their final exams.”

Girton Grammar School had two students with ATARs above 99, which placed them in the top 1 per cent of the state.

There were three students who achieved a perfect score of 50 in physics, literature and English Language.

Gleneagles Secondary College

Gleneagles Secondary College has congratulated Logan Nicholson, as the top of his cohort, achieving an ATAR of 99.

Logan also achieved a perfect study score of 50 in further maths.

Greater Shepparton Secondary College

Isabela Bace is the dux of Greater Shepparton Secondary College, and was thrilled to receive a congratulatory phone call from executive principal Barbara O’Brien.

Isabela got up early to check her results before starting a shift at her casual job.

“I woke the whole house up – I was so excited to tell mum and dad my scores,” she said.

Isabela said that while she had hoped to receive good results, she was not expecting to be

dux.

“Dux is amazing – I was so emotional when Mrs O’Brien rang me,” she said.

“I think I’m still processing it to be honest, but mum and dad were proud and I’m so happy to be able to set a great example for my younger brother and cousins.”

Isabela is looking to study Law and Commerce with Deakin University from next year and

said she was hoping to be able to undertake her course online, to stay locally with family.

She said coming from an Albanian background, her connection to family and the region was

important.

Hillcrest Christian College

Hume Anglican’s Year 12 cohort has delivered exceptional outcomes with the best results the school has seen in 11 years of the senior year.

Tamanno Zavqieva was their dux with a score of 98.00 while 16 per cent of students achieved an ATAR of over 90 and 42 per cent were over 80.

Hume Central has announced their dux for 2022 is Murabit Ali who scored 93.05 for his ATAR.

Murabit hoped his success would benefit future students at Hume Central Secondary College.

“It’s an honour to be the one to set an example for the future achievers of Hume Central Secondary College. Knowing that my gruelling 2-year journey in VCE has finally shown its results brings me great satisfaction,” he said.

“However, it is essential to maintain that motivation in my future endeavours. My teachers are incredibly great at what they do, and they queried very hard to support me and my peers.

“Their work ethic and passion for their subjects kept me motivated this year. I aim to outdo my current self in the forthcoming year and apply my knowledge in the field of Engineering.”

Ivanhoe Grammar School has announced its two duces, with Koen Dubrow taking out the title at the Ivanhoe campus with an ATAR of 99.7 and Samuel Bevacqua leading the pack at the Plenty campus with 98.2.

“We are extremely proud of our VCE Class of 2022 and their achievements in their final year of secondary school,” the school said in a statement.

“Once again, our VCE students have produced a strong set of academic results. Students studied hard, approached the year with incredible maturity and their Year 12 exams with dedication and commitment.

John Monash science School

Five perfect subject scores capped off a stellar year for John Monash science School student Alex Keany.

Finishing her VCE year with an outstanding ATAR of 99.90, Ms Keany was shocked to find out that she had received scores of 50 in English, biology, chemistry, mathematical methods and physics.

“I’ve never really felt I was that strong in English,” Ms Keany said.

“I’m more of a STEM student.”

Despite the happy surprise, Ms Keany said she was incredibly proud of her results, particularly in English.

“I’ve tried really hard to be consistent across the year, so I’m really proud,” she said.

Ms Keany aims to study a Bachelor of science, majoring in biomedical engineering, at Melbourne University.

Kambrya College

Kambrya College principal Keith Perry said the school community was very proud of the 2022 cohort, after two tough years of lockdowns and online learning.

“We are once again very proud of our students and staff this year, especially on the back end of a really tough few years during the lockdowns,” he said.

The school achieved a VCE median study score of 30, and breaking the school’s record, 8.4 per cent of students achieved study scores of 40 and above.

The school’s VCE DUX Manvir Singh, achieved an ATAR of 98.4, and was among 14.4 per cent of students who achieved 90 or above.

Manvir is looking forward to pursuing medicine in his tertiary education.

Mr Perry said the school’s VCAL DUX Allanah Orme, had also produced “outstanding results”.

Allanah is now looking to enter the police force.

Jesse McDougall scored a perfect ATAR of 99.95.

Keilor Downs Secondary College

Hard work has paid off for dux Adam Kalajdziovski, who achieved an ATAR of 99.6.

“I definitely worked hard this year, and devoted a lot of time to my schooling,” he said.

“But I tried to split the work across all my subjects as evenly as I could, and I think that’s why I did as well as I did.”

Adam plans to study a Bachelor of science at the University of Melbourne, with entry to the guaranteed Masters program.

Kilbreda College

Siorcha Creaton has been named dux of Kilbreda College, with a score of 97.00.

In a post to Facebook, the school said the students “showed that hard work, resilience, perseverance and a flexible attitude can achieve great results and we congratulate them on their achievements this year”.

Amy Goodchild was named Proxime Accessit, with an ATAR of 96.70.

The King David School

The King David School has announced Mia Wald as this year’s Dux with an ATAR of 99.85.

Ms Wald achieved three perfect study scores of 50, along with three other students who scored a perfect 50 from the cohort.

Leongatha Secondary College

Outstanding results have been achieved at Leongatha Secondary College. Of the 51 students receiving an ATAR this year, Mia Deenen achieved above 90 per cent with a 91.6, placing her among the highest achievers in the state and Louisa Campbell with a 87.3, placing her within the top 13 per cent of the state.

Further outstanding results were achieved within individual subjects, including by Year 11 student Lachie Gill who achieved a study score of 49 in Units 3 and 4 Psychology which he undertook via an accelerated pathway.

The 2022 College mean study score was calculated at 27, with 28 per cent of students achieving a study score of 30 or over in one or more subjects. The school said the college’s English median study score rose in 2022, “indicating that the teaching strategies being adopted within and across our college are beginning to have an impact on student’s outcomes”.

The school was also extremely proud of its year 12 VCAL students this year with all students enrolled in Senior VCAL successfully achieving their Vocational Applied Learning Certificates. Many have converted their HeadStart Apprenticeships into full-time roles and also many more who have been able to secure full-time employment and other apprenticeships in our local community. “We wish all of those beginning in these roles or heading onto further study, the very best with their chosen pathway.”

Lakeside College has congratulated the 2022 DUX Katharine Farrelly for topping her cohort.

Lighthouse Christian College congratulated its 2022 Year 12 cohort on a year well done.

The DUX of the school achieved 99.25, and had a perfect study score of 50 for one of their subjects.

The median study score of the cohort was 32, and 30 per cent of students achieved an ATAR above 90.

Loreto Mandeville Hall

The Loreto Toorak class of 2022 had a median ATAR of 87.35 which included three perfect study scores across two subjects.

The 2022 dux is Elena Chiam, who achieved an ATAR of 99.8.

In addition to this, 28 students achieved an ATAR above 95.00.

Lowanna College Newborough

Allyssa received an outstanding ATAR of 93.40, and plans to study a double-degree in Biomedicine and Commerce at Latrobe University next year.

The College said this year cemented further growth for it school, with its mean study score increasing by another 0.5 across all subjects.

“With our college-wide focus on literacy, our average VCE English study score has increased from 21.5 back in 2017 to an impressive 27.4 this year.

Lowther Anglican Grammar’s dux of 2022 Yanan Chai has shared her delight after her 99.9 score was revealed.

“Getting Dux today was definitely a surprise,” she said.

“I am incredibly grateful for my support network – my parents, teachers, school and friends. I hope to continue to develop my skills and understanding so that I am able to greatly support and shape the wider community.”

In a quirky celebration, the school had two sets of twins also complete their final year and achieve ATARs above 90.

The school has this year boasted a full completion rate across its VCE and VCAL programs.

The median ATAR achieved was 95.25, with 73.8 per cent of students achieving an ATAR above 90.

12.9 per cent of students scored an ATAR above 99.

The Frankston school achieved its strongest VCE results in a decade, with the median sitting at a 30.
The Dux was international student Anh (Rachel) Huynh with an ATAR score of 97.7.

Two students were recognised at the school’s Dux after they each achieved an ATAR of 99.45.

Five students received perfect 50 study scores across further maths, biology, legal studies, English and visual communications.

Sixty per cent of the school’s year 12 cohort scored an ATAR of 80 or higher.

Thirty two per cent of students received an ATAR that was 90 or above.

Principal Pitsa Binnion described the students’ achievements as a “thrilling result”.

“I am thrilled as students have bounced back and done exceptionally well this year,” she said.

Melbourne Girls Grammar has congratulated its 2022 duces Louise Wang and Alexandra Zhang, who each achieved an ATAR of 99.8.

Thirty-one students at Mentone Girls’ Secondary College received ATAR results above 90 this morning, a result principal Linda Brown is proud of.

Three students have been named duxes of Kew’s Methodist Ladies’ College, after each of them obtained a ATAR score of 99.9.

They include Violent Zheng, who is looking to forge a career in coding, and completed the university-accredited subject VCE algorithmics this year.

Kew private girls school Methodist Ladies’ College was celebrating after 18 students achieved an ATAR score of 99 or above, placing them in the top one per cent of students of the state.

Natalya Kay – one of the VCE Duces Secundae – achieved an ATAR of 99.85

More than 42 per cent of its class of 2022 obtained an ATAR above 90, and MLC’s students also recorded 16 perfect study scores of 50 across 10 subjects.

Principal Diana Vernon said “ surpassed expectations after a very turbulent few years of schooling”.

Mougadam Mougadam achieved an ATAR of 96.75, claiming Minaret College’s 2022 Dux title. The school celebrated Mougadam and the Year 12 cohort on Monday December 13.

Mount Lilydale Mercy College congratulated its 2022 Dux Jack Drummond for achieving an ATAR of 99.3.

Jack is hoping to study a double degree in science and Engineering at Monash University next year.

Hamish studied English, LOTE (Japanese), mathematical methods, physics, specialist mathematics and business management.

Liam McDonald achieved an ATAR of 94.8 with studies in English literature, mathematical methods, physics, theatre studies, specialist mathematics and VET music performance.

Alexandra (Alex) Trebley is the 2022 Year 12 VCE dux, with an ATAR score of 96.85.

Alex is not taking a gap year in 2023 but will focus her attention to undertake Law at Deakin University in Melbourne.

Nossal High School has congratulated its dux Sayam Mehta for his ATAR of 99.75. More than 65 per cent of the school’s year 12 cohort received ATARs of 90 or above.

Principal of Nossal High School Roger Page, congratulated the DUX of the school and all year 12 students, following their ATAR’s being released on December 12.

“I congratulate the graduating Class of 2022 for their outstanding work, good humour, and resilience and thank them for allowing me to be a part of their educational journey,” he said.

“After opening Nossal in 2010 and 44 years in education I am retiring this year and am very pleased (but sad) to be leaving on a high note.”

Highlighting the hard work of the 2022 cohort, Mr Page began with the school DUX, Sayam Metha.

“Our DUX Sayam achieved an impressive ATAR of 99.75,” he said.

“Sayam was alongside 66 per cent of students who achieved ATARs of 90 or above. We are also very pleased to see that all year 12 students received 25 or higher study scores in English.”

Nossam High School’s median ATAR came in at 93.6, with 11 students achieving ATAR’s above 90.

Mr Page also wanted to focus on the students achievements outside of academic life.

“Our students consistently achieve excellent results, but more importantly are well rounded, and well prepared for the transition to University,” he said.

“They will be highly successful in the future and are the leaders of tomorrow. People often complain about the young people of today but from what I see here at Nossal each day – our future is in very good hands.”

Bundoora boys school Parade College has crowned Kevin Shah as its 2022 dux, after he obtained an ATAR score of 99.75.

Eleven of the school’s students received an ATAR above 95, while 24 had an ATAR above 90.

The school also had one student get a perfect study score of 50 in Biology.

Phoenix P-12 Community College

Phoenix P-12 Community College dux Jarrah Halloran scored 97.55. She hopes to get into speech pathology.

Peninsula Grammar

Peninsula Grammar is celebrating dual Duces from the class of 2022 after two students both achieved ATARS of 99.2.

A third student also achieved an ATAR above 99 and 11 per cent of the school’s Year 12 students scored over 95 putting them in the top 5 per cent of Victoria.

The school’s median was 82.25.

Principal Stuart Johnston said the independent, coeducational, open entry school was thrilled with all the results.

“We’re proud of every one of our Year 12s,” he said.

Included among the high achievers were two students who have been attending the school for 15 years after starting as three-year-olds.

Penleigh Grammar

A year of strong results at Penleigh Grammar ended with the college acknowledging three duxes. Adam Faggianelli, Asel Kumarasinghe and Alexander Sarossy recorded 99.95 while Sandra Sujith scored 99.85.

The four students and 15 others at Penleigh managed ATARs above 99.

Portland Secondary College

The Dux for Portland Secondary College was Sarah Tunstall with an ATAR score of 94.75.

Principal Jo Kindred said: “Congratulations to all our VCE and VCAL students on their achievements throughout 2022. The resilience, determination and perseverance demonstrated by all student throughout their schooling has been remarkable. Our students have done very well and we are extremely proud of the whole cohort. Sarah has worked extremely hard and is the embodiment of all our School values – Respect, Success, Resilience and Creativity.

Sarah said: “My advice for other students is not to sacrifice what you love whether it be sport, work or any hobbies but to manage your time properly so you don’t become overworked or stressed. Hard work always pays off! I’m shocked with the results that I have achieved and the possibilities are now endless.”

At Ringwood Secondary College, Shion Kim was the college’s dux with an ATAR of 99.85.

Principal Rosina Fotia said five students obtained a perfect subject study score of 50, and 12 per cent of its students received an ATAR above 90.

Ms Fotia said more than half of Ringwood SC’s Year 12s – 54 per cent – received an ATAR of above 70.

Reservoir High School

Reservoir High School is thrilled to announce that in 2022, 16 per cent of its students achieved an ATAR over 90. This includes school dux, Chloe Smith, who received an ATAR of 96.95. Chloe will study biomedicine at the University of Melbourne in 2023.

Salesian College has announced Christine Franklin is their Dux for 2022. Christine scored 92.85 to take out the top honour and hopes to study engineering at RMIT next year.

St Peter’s College in Clyde North has a new DUX, the hotly sought after title claimed by Thamadee Dela.

Thamadee achieved an ATAR of 97.9, while also achieving the highest study score across all subjects at St Peter’s College, with the maximum score of 50 in further maths.

College Principal Chris Black, has applauded both the individual results highlighted and the collective results as reflective of the hard work of students and the dedication of staff.

“It would appear that this explicit improvement agenda has begun

to make inroads into the quality of student outcomes achieved” stated Mr Black. Mr Black also reminded both students and parents that an ATAR score does not define a person, it only becomes a signpost along life’s journey.

St Mary MacKillop College Swan Hill

Isabella Gilchrist from St Mary MacKillop College Swan Hill achieved a whopping ATAR score of 97.95.

Ms Gilhrist said once she got her results she felt 12 years of hard work had finally paid off.

“I felt it was all worth it when I opened my results day,” she said.

“There were times when I questioned that throughout the years but I felt that it was all worth it and all my hard work had paid off.”

Despite being one of the top achievers in the country Ms Gillchrist isn’t taking a well-deserved break, she’s heading straight to university.

“I’m heading straight to uni next year … hopefully to Melbourne uni to study Biomed,” she said.

Ms Gilchrist said the main thing people starting high school needed to do was manage their time well.

“I think the main thing is that you keep on top of everything, keep consistent throughout the year, … (do) practice exams as well,” she said.

Shelford Girls’ Grammar

Shelford Girls’ Grammar school principal Katrina Brennan said the school was incredibly proud to announce the exceptional results of the Class of 2022.

The median ATAR for the school was 90.95, while 15 per cent of students received an ATAR score above 98.

40 per cent of students received an ATAR score above 95, while 54 per cent of students received an ATAR score above 90. The median study score was 36.

Meanwhile, three students achieved ATARs above 98.40.

The median study score was 31.

Three students achieved perfect scores in biology, Japanese and food technology.

75 students scored ATARs above 80, and 31 students scored above 90.

Principal Jillian English said the marks were “outstanding”.

Sunbury College

Thirty-five per cent of Sunbury Secondary College’s Year 12 VCE students received an ATAR of 70 or above in what assistant principal Wes Pfitzner described as “a really positive result” with 11 of the 73 students eligible for an ATAR scoring 80 or above.

“We are really, really happy, we have had a huge shift in previous years and a lot of our students have already had early offers,” he said.

“We are really happy with how hard our students have worked and the support of their teachers and families.”

Mr Pfitzner said the college was also really proud of the college’s 32 VCAL students.

“They are really hard working. The majority are already working and all got successful pathways they have gone on to since finishing Year 12,” he said.

Melissa Vang has been announced as Sunbury College’s dux for 2022.

Melissa was their subject dux for Chemistry, Mathematical Methods and Physics and was awarded the ADF Future innovators award for 2022.

Melissa’s teachers describe her as eager to learn, curious, highly motivated and a student who takes every challenge in her stride. Her dedication and commitment to all of her studies, including her STEM studies, is abundantly clear to all and has resulted in her exceptional academic results.

Angela Yu has achieved a perfect score of 99.95, and is the dux of prestigious girls private school St Catherine’s School Toorak.

She obtained a perfect study score of 50 in English, and has been accepted into the Yale Young Global Scholars Program in the US.

Angela was School Co-Captain and coeditor of the student-led newspaper among many other extra-curricular activities this year.

A huge 55 per cent of St Catherine’s Year 12 students obtained an ATAR of 90 or above, with 11 per cent achieving ATARs of 99 or above.

The dux of St Patrick’s College in Ballarat is Toby Clack, who scored 99.25. Toby plans on studying biomedicine at Melbourne University.

He plans on keeping up his skills at eight-ball, for which he has earned several titles over the years, including the Under 15 Australian Champion.

“I’m ecstatic – very, very happy,” Toby said.

“It’s a big relief to have everything wrapped up now and looking forward to going to uni soon.”

He thanked his family, friends, and teachers.

St Joseph’s College Mildura

Caterina De Maria St from Joseph’s College Mildura put in the hard work to achieve the school’s highest ATAR score.

Ms De Maria will graduate year 12 with a staggering ATAR score of 95.6 and will be awarded college dux later this week.

In second place was Maria Petrolo who achieved an ATAR of 89.85.

The 2022 Dux of St Paul’s Anglican Grammar School is Xavier Haberl of Traralgon who received an ATAR of 99.5. Xavier also achieved two perfect scores of 50 for health and human development and history: revolutions. Close behind were: Mitchell Bellingham of Traralgon on 98.45, Alexander Mirkovic of Warragul on 98.35 and Mia Edhouse of Warragul on 97.3.

The Class of 2022 approached this year with maturity and good humour and have actively pursued their potential to achieve remarkable results,” the school said in a statement.

In all, 26 per cent of students achieved an ATAR over 90 and 69 per cent of students achieved an ATAR over 70.

The percentage of students who achieved an ATAR of over 80 was 48 per cent, placing them in the top 20 cent of the state. 96 per cent of students achieved an ATAR over 50.

Tarneit Senior College

The Dux of Tarneit Senior College for 2022 is Muhammad Khalid with an ATAR result of 98.15.

Tintern Grammar

Tintern Grammar in Ringwood East has crowned Olivia Dowling as its 2022 dux after she scored an ATAR of 99.7.

From its international students, Peilei (Jessica) Chen was the top performer with a score of 97.50.

The school’s median ATAR score was 80.9, and more than half of its cohort – 54 per cent – achieved overall scores of 80 and above.

“We are proud of our students’ achievements with these results which particularly reflect the hard work of our cohort, the excellent teaching and care provided at Tintern Grammar, and the support of our community,” principal Brad Fry said.

Toorak College

The Mornington Peninsula’s leading school has again aced the VCE after more than 40 per cent of students scored over 90, placing them in the nation’s top 10 per cent.

Toorak College’s class of 2022 achieved a median ATAR of 87.

Principal Kristy Kendall said the school community couldn’t be more proud of students at the elite girls school.

“Through uncertainty and challenge they have shown that through intention and action, you can rise above and achieve great things,” Ms Kendall said.

“When your ambition is greater than your fear you can take control of your destiny.”

A student who has spent her whole school life at Toorak College has been named Dux of the Mount Eliza school.

Anna Franklin, who received an incredible ATAR of 99.8, started as a 3-year-old in the kindergarten program at the elite, independent, single sex girls school.

Toorak’s Dux Proximus, Sophie Dahlenburg, achieved a score of 99.2 and was among the 12 students with ATARs over 95 at Toorak College.

Trinity College Colac

Trinity College Colac had three students achieve an ATAR beyond 90 and Yingru Qu is the College dux with a score of 96.2. Sophie Darroch scored 93.85 and Tilly Kerr 90.55. Students achieved 12 study scores above 40, which places them among the best in the state in those subjects, and the school is pleased that almost every student achieved entry levels for their chosen university courses.

Trinity Grammar

Trinity Grammar has announced four student duces who all received a perfect score of 99.95.

They are David Dodson, David Fang, Enda Han and Aden Wilmshurst.

Principal Adrian Farrer said it was an incredible achievement and terrific set of results.

“This year, our cohort attained a median ATAR score of 88.9, a median Study Score of 35 and 11 perfect Study Scores across seven subjects (including one Ruyton Girls’ School student from the Trinity/Ruyton co-ordinate Program),” he said

“77.71 per cent of our students scored in the top 25 per cent of the state, 44.57 per cent of our students received an ATAR of 90 or above, and 24 per cent achieved 95 or above,” he said.

“While these scores do not define their Trinity story, they are something to celebrate and acknowledge. Among many things, they represent a commitment by the students to their studies, their aspirations, and to becoming the very best they can be.”

Vermont Secondary College

In Melbourne’s east, Vermont Secondary College had 45 students, nearly a quarter of its year level, record overall scores of 90 or above, while its dux achieved a score of 99.45.

The college had 88 students – or 46 per cent of its Year 12’s – obtain a score of 80 or above.

Principal Tony Jacobs said he was exceptionally proud of the students’ efforts with their senior classes disrupted prior to 2022 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“An outstanding result from our 2022 VCE cohort and staff in light of their Year 10 and 11 classes being taught predominantly via remote learning and significant disruptions this year through ongoing Covid related staff and student illness.

“Well done and congratulations to the class of 2022,” he said.

Victory Lutheran College

Isobel Whitehead was named dux, with a score of 96.9.

She received a 45 in both English and History Revolutions, a 42 in Drama and a 40 in Psychology.

Victory had seven students (20.6 per cent of the cohort) in Year 12 achieve an ATAR over 90 for the second year in a row.

The school said: “Our regional school is achieving some amazing results, and we are extremely proud of our cohort of brilliant young adults.”

Werribee Secondary College

Emily Zhong obtained the highest VCE result, 99.2, at Werribee Secondary College in 2022.

The school is still waiting for the International Baccalaureate results to be released in January to formally announce their dux.

Westbourne Grammar School

Yolanda Wu, from Westbourne Grammar School, scored 99.55.

Woodleigh School, Langwarrin South

Momo Guest has been crowned DUX of Woodleigh School, achieving an ATAR of 97.65. Momo is amongst a very successful cohort, 16 per cent of which achieved ATARS above 90 with 13 per cent of students receiving early offers to university.

Xavier College

Xavier College duxes are Marco Jim and Thomas Martinelli, who received perfect ATAR scores of 99.95.

Yarra Valley Grammar

Yarra Valley Grammar has had a watershed year with its best results in history, according to principal Mark Merry.

Dr Merry said 44 per cent of its 180 students achieved an ATAR above 90, with its median ATAR score at 87.

Charles Kuang was the Ringwood private school’s dux, obtaining a perfect ATAR score of 99.95, while the school also recorded 13 perfect 50 subject study scores.

“There is a combination of factors that have led to such pleasing results; supportive parents and families, outstanding and hardworking teachers, a culture of excellence at the school, but above all, students who are aspirational, hardworking and really wanted to do well,” Dr Merry said.

“All of that is a very powerful combination for the success we are seeing. “
