A L-plater motorcycle hoon narrowly escaped death when he crashed into a parked bus and was flung off his bike in front of dozens of horrified onlookers.
Bobby Duffin, 21, appeared before the Ringwood Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday where he pleaded guilty to a slew of driving offences.
Over a period of several months in 2022, Duffin posted dozens of Tik Tok videos of himself riding his black Yamaha motorcycle dangerously throughout Melbourne.
The then 18-year-old recorded himself riding at speeds up to 200km/h, performing dangerous stunts and riding in proximity to other road users.
In the videos, Duffin often flipped his registration plates backwards to avoid identification.
The Sunbury teen’s stunt spree ended on February 7, 2023 when he crashed into a parked bus in Doncaster.
Other motorists observed Duffin weaving in and out of lanes without indicating, driving at speed and not using his breaks.
The bus was stopped outside a Doncaster school to drop people off, and had been
stationary for more than 10 seconds before Duffin crashed into its rear.
He was flung across multiple lanes of traffic and was hospitalised.
Duffin had a GoPro attached to his helmet at the time of the accident but the camera went missing from the crash scene.
The court heard Duffin “craved attention” from the videos.
He was sentenced to a 12 month community corrections order, fined $3000 and ordered to complete 150 hours of community work.
Duffin’s car and motorcycle learners permits were cancelled and his busted motorbike was surrendered to police.
