Lower Templestowe: Woman critical after Templestowe Rd head-on crash
A woman is in a critical condition in hospital and a man has been arrested after police allegedly found drugs in his car after a head-on crash in Lower Templestowe.

A woman in her 70s remains in hopsital after a nasty head-on crash in Lower Templestowe, where cannabis was also allegedly found in the other driver’s car.
Nunawading highway patrol Sergeant Paul Egan said the crash occurred on Templestowe Rd, near Heidelberg-Warrandyte Rd, on June 30 about 6.45pm.
Sgt Egan said a red Toyota Camry was driving east when it suddenly crossed onto the opposite side of the road and smashed into a white Toyota Corolla.
A passenger inside the Corolla, a 71-year-old Doncaster woman, was taken to The Alfred hospital with life-threatening injuries.
On Tuesday, a hospital spokesman said she had stabilised but remained in a critical condition.
The driver, a 74-year-old Doncaster man, was taken to Box Hill Hospital in a stable condition and treated for back and abdominal injuries.
Sgt Egan said the driver of the Camry, a 26-year-old Surrey Hills man, was uninjured in the crash, but a search of the car later allegedly found a quantity of cannabis inside.
The man was arrested and taken to Doncaster police station for questioning.
Meanwhile, a Templestowe man could face charges after he wrote off his white Mercedes Benz and crashed into a resident’s front fence on Serpells Rd.
Sgt Egan said the crash occurred on July 1 at 5.45pm, when the driver lost control of the car going round a bend, near Bali Hi boulevard.
The car smashed through a bus stop sign and a speed limit sign and grazed a power pole before crashing into the front fence of a home.
Sgt Egan said the driver, a 49-year-old, and his passenger, an 18-year-old Templestowe man, were uninjured in the crash, and police were continuing their investigations.
Elsewhere, two people were taken to hospital after a car smashed into a parked car on Terrara Rd in Vermont on July 2.
Sgt Egan said a 52-year-old Nunawading woman, who was suspended from driving, crashed a white Nissan Pulsar into a black Toyota sedan about 7pm, close to a roundabout near Jolimont Rd.
The woman and her passenger, a 48-year-old Nunawading woman, were taken to Box Hill Hospital, treated for minor injuries and later released.
No one was inside the parked Toyota at the time of the crash, however both cars were extensively damaged.
Sgt Egan said police were awaiting results of blood tests from the Pulsar driver before determining whether charges would be laid.
