A teenager was hospitalised with burns after she escaped a house fire that destroyed a property in Melbourne’s east.
Emergency service crews remain at the scene of a fire that destroyed a Francis St, Tecoma home about 6am Tuesday.
A 59-year-old man and a 17-year-old woman who were inside at the time escaped the blaze and sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
The teenager received burns and was transported to Dandenong Hospital in a stable condition.
Firefighters arrived at the property at 5.51am and found the second storey of the weatherboard home well alight.
Nearby properties were evacuated amid fears the fire would spread.
It was brought under control at 7.12am but crews, including 13 vehicles, will remain on scene for some time.
CFA issued Community Information to the Belgrave, Tecoma and Upwey communities due to smoke in the area.
CFA and Victoria Police crews will work to establish the cause of the blaze today.
Paramedics remain on scene for health monitoring.
