NBL1 South: Ringwood sign Robbie Heath, Kyle Daggett and Digna Strautmane

Ringwood has landed some stunning signings ahead of the new NBL1 South season including a US college star, NBL young gun and a Latvian women’s international. Meet them here.

Ringwood’s NBL1 South roster is building plenty of excitement just a week out from the start of the season.

In the past week, the Hawks have unveiled several signings for their men’s and women’s signings as Victoria’s best basketballers look to make a big return to the court.

Among those set to pull on Hawks colours is American forward Kyle Daggett who recently completed his college career at Shepherd University in West Virginia.

There he averaged 17 points while shooting 60 per cent from the field.

According to Ringwood’s men’s coach Ken Harrington, the Maryland native would be a huge addition into the Hawks’ starting five.

“I really like his ability to finish around the basket and play with some physicality.” Hawks Head Coach Ken Harrington said.

“He has been great to deal with, is obviously an intelligent guy.

“He has a team playbook and he promises he has been reading it.

“But he will pick up quickly and it all suits his strengths, he will be a scoring option.”

Also among the players to watch on the men’s team will be Robbie Heath who will arrive at the Nest after spending time with the Cairns Taipans in the NBL as a development player this season.

Heath crosses from the Diamond Valley Eagles where he played in 2021, averaging 17 points a game.

He will be joined by swingman Jack Roberts and guard Harry Sealey, who is the youngest player on the Hawks’ roster.

“Robbie is simply a natural scorer and a high percentage one at that.” Harrington said.

Meanwhile on Wednesday night, Ringwood unveiled its latest women’s signing, Latvian star Digna Strautmane.

Known as “Diggy”, she arrives after time in the US college system where she played for Georgia Tech and Syracuse.

“College was great but I am very excited to be here, this is my first professional contract.” Strautmane said on Tuesday night.

“I have learnt a lot in College and look forward to doing whatever the team needs me to do.”

Ringwood will open its season on home court at Norwood Secondary College next Thursday, April 21 against Kilsyth.

The women’s game will tip off at 6pm before the men do battle from 8pm.
