Shoppers at busy Eaton Mall will be better protected from out-of-control vehicles or those with a more sinister motive.
Bollards have been installed at the three intersections of the popular foodie hotspot, which were first promised at the start of last year in the wake of the Bourke and Flinders streets incidents in 2017.
The bollards, placed at Chester and Portman streets and Atherton Rd, are also designed to stop motorbikes.
Monash Mayor Stuart James said Eaton Mall was one of Monash’s busiest destinations, attracting not only locals but people from all over Melbourne and beyond who come to enjoy the cosmopolitan foodie atmosphere.
“These bollards are a measure to safeguard visitors and the enjoyment of this popular precinct,” he said.
