Thirty firefighters tackled a house fire in Melbourne’s east on Monday afternoon.

Emergency services attended a Ringwood home at 2.28pm on October 28 after multiple calls to 000.

A Fire Rescue Victoria spokesman said firefighters were on the scene in six minutes, where they found a two-storey brick house engulfed in flames and threatening to spread to neighbouring homes.

“The fire was deemed under control by 3.17pm,” the spokesman said.

“FRV and CFA crews wore breathing apparatus to battle the blaze from the ground floor.”

Firefighters believe the cause of the blaze to be an electrical fault.

The owner was not home at the time of the fire.

A smoke warning has been issued for neighbouring residents and the surrounding area.

An Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman said crews were monitoring the scene.

“Paramedics were called to a fire at 2.30pm,” she said.

The spokeswoman said crews were on the scene for health monitoring, but there had been no patients at the time of writing.
