A KNIFE-wielding P-plater was last night nabbed driving at nearly double the speed limit in Melbourne’s southeast.

Police caught the 26-year-old Tasmanian in a Holden ute rocketing at 154km/h in a 80km/h stretch of Wellington Rd, Clayton, just after 11.30pm yesterday.

The probationary driver then refused to undergo an evidentiary breath test after blowing a positive reading in a preliminary test.
Police allege he was also carrying a knife in his pocket.

Police spokeswoman Belinda Batty said the man’s ute had been impounded and he would be charged on summons with speeding offences, refuse EBT, possess controlled weapon and other traffic matters.
