A Doncaster teacher says helping struggling students achieve goals was the most rewarding element of his career.
Jeff Pavlou taught subjects including legal studies and art history during a career that spanned 45 years at Melbourne Girls Secondary College, Maryland Secondary College and Doncaster Secondary College.
He retired earlier this year after about two decades at Doncaster Secondary and was acknowledged for his longevity in the profession at a State Government ceremony for dedicated teachers.
“It’s a helping profession and getting students to use all their talents and abilities to meet their potential is basically what it’s all about,” Mr Pavlou said.
“The most rewarding thing is the progression of the least-able students to achievement; from my perspective the ones who are struggling who are able to go on to achieve goals.”
