A Nunawading man growled at police officers before repeatedly striking them despite twice being pepper sprayed after earlier attacking a woman.
Timothy Vaudreu pleaded guilty on Wednesday at the Ringwood Magistrates’ Court to breaching court orders, assault, and assaulting police.
Police officers were called to Vaudreu’s home after neighbours heard loud arguing on September 11 last year.
When they arrived, the officers attempted to arrest Vaudreu, but he started growling at them before swinging his fists and repeatedly striking officers in a “frenzied attack”.
Police used two rounds of pepper spray and a baton as they attempted to restrain him.
Despite the spraying, Vaudreuhe continued to charge at them.
Several police officers eventually managed to restrain Vaudreu and take him into custody.
Vaudreu also pleaded to another incident where he scaled a woman’s balcony and violently headbutted her because he believed she was a “vampire” and a “reptile”.
The court heard Vaudreu regularly used drugs during the time of the offending.
He was sentenced to 12 months in jail.
