Australian Unity Retail Property Fund manager Nikki Panagopoulos said the centre’s supermarket and fresh food offerings were going to be improved, and a food and beverage entertainment precinct would be established at the shopping spot.
The medical centre would be expanded and a child care facility would be among the new services on offer, she said.
“The development will not only create jobs and much needed community services, it will modernise the centre for existing customers and retailers,” Ms Panagopoulos said.
“We aim to improve upon the centre’s convenience and easy parking layout for customers.”
The company is waiting for Whitehorse Council to approve its plans.
If it gets the necessary permits, it plans to begin construction work early next year.

Ms Panagopoulos said the centre would remain open throughout the work, which is expected to take about 18 months.
Located on the corner of Springfield and Williams roads, North Blackburn Shopping Centre offers a Woolworths, IGA, travel agent, community hall and dentist among its shops and services.
