To students in more than 150 eastern suburbs schools across two decades, they have been the faces of classes from maths and robotics to cooking and drama.

But then along came coronavirus, forcing the specialist teachers from Mt Waverley-based Kids Unlimited to take their lessons online.

Student numbers have been capped to allow the 40 teachers to better engage with students.

Among the topics covered are genetics, chess, entrepreneurship, animation, coding, electrical engineering, pattern recognition and boardgame making.

Kids Unlimited founder — and ex-Australian chess champion — David Cordover said he hoped the move would allow children to continue engage with teachers and other children, and keep exploring their interests.

“As a father, I empathise with the challenges ahead and hope we can all help each other to get to the other side,” he said.
