The organisers behind Monash Open Gardens have a simple message for green thumbs — share your love of gardens.
Eight new private gardens will feature on the trail on Saturday, the second year of the free event.
Waverley Garden Club president Peter Moskovic said the aim was to encourage people in Monash to appreciate gardens.
“It’s healthy, social, enjoyable and rewarding,” Mr Moskovic said.
“The aim isn’t to showcase professionally designed gardens, it … is to show eight people who enjoy gardens and gardening.”
More than 400 people attended each of the eight gardens last year.

“They may be very strong in vegetables, or very strong in flowers and colour, something to pick all the time, or permaculture, or people who enjoy the quirkiness of gardens with sculptures and the like.”
The club has put together a route to visit all the gardens, which starts in Oakleigh before passing through Ashburton, Ashwood, Mt Waverley and Glen Waverley before finishing in Mulgrave.
Entry to all gardens is free.
