THERE'S no place like gnome in Tecoma, with the ceramic characters popping up in the most unusual places.

The gnome invasion is part of the No Maccas in Tecoma movement that is trying to stop the fast food giant building in the suburb.

All over Tecoma, people are spotting gnomes on top of street signs, railway bridges and gardens and posting the photos to a dedicated Facebook page called "Gnome Maccas in Tecoma".

A petition through change.org to stop McDonald's building its Tecoma outlet now has more than 8000 signatures.

In October last year VCAT approved the seven-day, 24-hour fast-food outlet - the first for the hills.

Leader has removed comments from Tecoma McDonald’s stories due to concerns about message validity. You can still have your say by sending an email to the Free Press Leader.
