Eastern Freeway Balwyn crash: Caulfield woman charged

The driver of an allegedly stolen car involved in a horror crash in Balwyn North has been charged. All four people inside the vehicle are also facing fines for breaching lockdown restrictions.

A woman has been charged after a serious collision on the Eastern Freeway.

Police allege the driver of an allegedly stolen Subaru struck a barrier at the Bulleen Rd exit about 10.55pm on September 2.

The 20-year-old female driver, and her three passengers, a Seaford man, 21, a Springvale South man, 18, and a Noble Park man, 19, were all taken to hospital following the crash.

Two were in a critical condition.

Major collision investigation unit detectives have charged a Caulfield woman with dangerous driving causing serious injury.

She has been bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on September 14.

The car was allegedly stolen from an Aspendale Gardens shopping centre on September 2.

All four occupants of the car were found to be in breach of the directions issued by the Chief Health Officer Brett Sutton and each will be issued a $1652 penalty notice.
