Drugs valued at almost $365,000 have been taken off the streets after police raided two properties in Melbourne south east.

Four arrested and more than $365,000 of meth seized

Police allegedly found a haul of drugs worth almost $380,000 after raids in Melbourne’s south east where they also arrested two men and two women.

During two early morning raids, detectives from the Caulfield Divisional Response Unit arrested the group at two residential addresses in Clayton South on Saturday, June 25.

The drug haul allegedly included 400 grams of methamphetamines with a street value estimated at $365,000, 500ml of what is alleged to be 1,4-Butanediol, a small amount of what is alleged to be cannabis, a small amount of steroids, a small amount of prescription drugs and $10,000 cash.

One 33-year-old man from Clayton South and another 33-year-old man from Oakleigh South were arrested and charged with trafficking a commercial quantity of methamphetamines and 1,4 Butanediol, the possession of cannabis, possession of steroids, the possession of prescription medication and dealing with the proceeds of crime.

The Clayton South man was remanded in custody and the Oakleigh South man was bailed.

Both men will appear before the Melbourne County Court on September 16.

Two 28-year-old women from Clayton South were also arrested and are expected to be charged on summons with possessing a drug of dependence and possessing proceeds of crime.

Detective Acting Sergeant Andrew Howell said the arrests should serve as a “sobering reminder” to potential drug dealers that “police will not site idle when it comes to drug crime”.

“Any time we remove large quantities of drugs off our street, there is no doubt the community is a safer place,” he said.

“We have teams of detectives dedicated to bringing you undone and putting you before the courts where you will be facing several years in prison.”
