ROCK superstar Bruce Springsteen is again helping Leader take care of our own, after supporting our Feed Melbourne Appeal for the second year.

During his High Hopes Tour with the E Street Band last month, “the Boss” spoke about the appeal and urged his fans to help out.

“We have some friends in the house tonight from Feed Melbourne,” Springsteen told more than 62,000 fans at the AAMI Park shows.

“Each year two million Australians don’t have enough food to eat. Feed Melbourne is an annual initiative, they cook and distribute perfectly good food that would otherwise go into landfill. They get it out to your neighbours and fellow citizens in need. They’re out there on the frontline doing God’s work.

“If you run into Feed Melbourne on your way out of the building, they deserve your time and support.”

HOW TO HELP: JOIN THE FEED MELBOURNE APPEAL

Fans responded by donating to tin-rattling volunteers from Leader and FareShare, raising $35,274 in two nights.

The Boss also donated six premium double tickets and passes to the exclusive E Street Lounge for auction.

Leader Newspapers approached Springsteen last year to ask if he would back the Feed Melbourne Appeal.

This resulted in almost $30,000 raised at his 2013 concerts and a further $80,000, thanks to his involvement.
