Brentwood Reserve: Glen Waverley pavilion to get multimillion-dollar upgrade
The growth in women’s sport has been a boon for grassroots clubs but it has also highlighted the woefully inadequate facilities many are forced to cope with. That’s about to change at one Monash sporting precinct.

The needs of women, umpires and spectators will be better catered for by the new pavilion planned for Brentwood Reserve.
Monash Council this week announced it expects work on the $2.2m project to start within days.
Plans include female-friendly changing rooms, a social area, kitchen and canteen, rooms for umpires and storage, an outdoor sheltered spectator area and external accessible amenities.
The new pavilion will support the increased use of the reserve for tenant clubs Glen Waverley Rovers Junior Football Club and Glen Waverley Cricket Club.
The park is also used by schools for weekday sporting activities.
The existing pavilion will be completely demolished and replaced by the new pavilion.
Mayor Stuart James said this was an exciting project that would deliver significant benefits for the clubs and people who use and enjoy the reserve.

“Growing female membership numbers for our tenant clubs highlights the need for improved facilities at this ground,” Cr James said.
“Keeping our community strong and healthy is a big priority for the council and we’re proud to invest in ways to encourage social participation and physical activity in Monash.”
Construction is expected to finish early next year.
