A Bayswater thug who shoved a double-barrel shotgun under a woman’s chin and told her to pull the trigger forced her to use drugs causing her to develop PTSD and lose 30 kgs.

Leigh Douglas Allen pleaded guilty to a string of charges, including false imprisonment, common assault, conduct endangering life, possessing an unregistered gun and storing a firearm in an insecure manner and was jailed for at least two years

In 2021, Allen threatened the woman saying, “You know who I am and what I can have done to you”.

Allen threatened he would “stomp” on her head and also told her to “drive into a tree” and that she was “worthless”

The 44-year-old — who helped establish a clubhouse in Bayswater — took his victim there on the pretence of moving items but then locked her in a storage room at the rear of the clubhouse, asking her if she “had a wire”.

He then loaded a double-barrel shotgun, placed it under the victim’s chin, and asked her to “put her finger on the trigger and pull it”.

Allen then threw her to the ground, grabbed her by the throat and strangled causing extensive injuries.

Allen also “forced” his victim to use meth on three occasions which along with the abuse lead her to develop PTSD and lose 30 kgs.

In a search at Allen’s residence, police found six 12-gauge shotgun rounds on top of a linen cabinet and a box containing various cartridge ammunition in the lounge room — all unsecured and in plain view.

Police also found fireworks and six cannabis plants in the backyard.

When questioned by police, Allen, who the court heard was a former Croydon Community College student, said his victim was the one who was violent.

Allen told his psychologist he was the one “manipulated” and his victim was a liar who had physically assaulted him.

On Wednesday, the court heard Allen’s offending had “no doubt” left a “devastating” psychological, mental and financial impact on his victim.

The court also heard his victim’s personality had changed and she was no longer “secure.”

Judge Krista Breckweg said Allen — whose friends and family supported him in court — did not seem to take “any responsibility” or show remorse for his actions.

“You have displayed no real insight into the (hurt) you have caused the victim and you have sought to blame her at almost every opportunity,” she said.

“Your offending is very serious … your behaviour was very grave.”

Judge Breckweg said Allen had left his “largely defenceless” victim terrified when he detained her in the storage room and then “choked” her into unconsciousness.

Allen was sentenced to two years and six months in jail, with a non-parole period of two years with 48 days in detention reckoned as served.

Allen’s family members cried in despair as he was taken to jail from the docks.
