Heartless thieves have ransacked a Collingwood art studio, running off with more than $20,000 worth of equipment in backpacks and wheelie bins
Cameras, lenses, computers, an iPad and studio lighting were among the expensive “essential” equipment stolen from the studio by the two crooks — a man and a woman — who were captured on CCTV running off with the goods in broad daylight.
The value of the equipment stolen was about $22,000.
According to the latest Crime Statistics Agency data there were 154 non-residential burglaries and 109 residential burglaries in Collingwood in the year to December 2024.
One of the thieves captured on nearby footage was seen wearing grey clothing, a black backpack, dark sunglasses and a hat.
An online fundraiser was launched last week to help raise funds for new equipment.
“Every donation, no matter the size, will go directly toward replacing some of the essential the stolen equipment,” the fundraiser says.
“These tools are not just materials; they are integral to the ability to develop, present and document work.”
