More than 2000 competitors have wowed fans in Cranbourne East as part of Victoria’s cheerleading state championships.

Casey Stadium was buzzing as teams from 29 clubs across the state competed in CheerCon Victoria 2022, with about 4000 spectators including many proud parents and coaches cheering them on.

The competition had age divisions for competitors as young as six years through to adults.

CheerCon event producer Dani Jimenez said the contest was the second biggest competition in Australia which her company produced this year.

“After two years of Covid, particularly here in Victoria, the vibe has been phenomenal,” she said.

“Everyone’s really excited to be back doing what they love and enjoying it and celebrating with their kids, and I love that.”

Maddie Powell, from Bayswater’s Outlaws All Star Cheer and Dance Club, said her team, Kelly Coed, were excited to be back competing and enjoying the atmosphere.

“Cheerleading’s a pretty big community and you don’t see that until you’re in it, so its really nice to be involved in something like this,” she said.
