Brandon Burt, 29, charged for allegedly setting multiple fires in Tarneit
A Tarneit man allegedly set multiple grass fires throughout Melbourne’s west over a 24 hour period.

An alleged firebug lit multiple grass fires across several locations in Melbourne’s west, including one at a house under construction.
Brandon Burt, 29, was charged on Tuesday for allegedly setting four fires over a 24 hour period between December 19 and 20 in Tarneit.
It’s alleged Mr Burt was responsible for grass fires at Homebush Drive, Cassina Circuit and at a creek-bed on Badger Grove.
He is also accused of setting a fire at a house under construction at Lidar Walk.
Mr Burt was arrested on Tuesday morning and remanded in custody.
He appeared briefly at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, facing two counts of intentionally causing a bushfire, criminal damage by fire and lighting fire in open air during a fire danger period.
He did not apply for bail.
The court heard Mr Burt was on medication for anxiety and depression.
He will return to court in March 2025.
