It is the traditional Aussie fly-in that attracts everyday aviators, and this year AusFly has chosen Wentworth as its host.
First held in 2011, AusFly is described as the main event for aircraft owners, pilots, builders, and enthusiasts to come together and chat about their passion for flying.
“It is an event where everyone can come together and tell their best aviation stories,” president of the Sport Aircraft Association of Australia (SAAA) Tony White said.
The event attracts hundreds of civil aviators from all over the country.
“People have flown in from as far afield as Perth. We have 100 aircraft on the ground right now,” he said.
With the association looking to switch from a spring event to an autumn one, the opportunity to host the event in Wentworth was one that Mr White felt was too good to ignore.
”Wentworth Council need to take a bow before the aviation community because they have done a wonderful job here, it’s one of the best aerodromes I have seen,” he said.
“And the Wentworthians at the aerodrome club have bent over backwards to help us set it up, it’s been a wonderful experience for everybody.
“There’s a very real possibility we’ll be back here next year.”
