A ute driver has lost his vehicle after being clocked by police at allegedly more than three times the legal speed limit at Eppalock.

The driver is expected to front court over allegations he was doing 126 km/h in a 40 zone on the Kimbolton-Axedale Rd on Sunday, October 2.

Victoria Police said the driver, a 45-year-old man from Echuca, would face multiple charges at court.

His ute was also impounded at a cost of $975.

Police have alleged the driver caught the attention of the Macedon Ranges Highway Patrol by overtaking numerous vehicles in a dangerous manner about 4.15pm.

The driver was stopped after a high speed intercept.

He is expected to be charged on summons with offences including dangerous driving, exceeding the speed limit by 45 km/h or more, conducting an unsafe overtake and driving to the right of double lines.
